When it comes to vein procedures, ensuring a seamless experience for our patients is our top priority. From pre-procedure preparations to post-treatment care, we’re dedicated to providing comprehensive support and guidance throughout every step of the process.
Preparing for Your Procedure
Preparation is key to a successful vein procedure. Here are some essential steps to take beforehand:
Medication Review: Communicate all medications you’re currently taking with your healthcare provider. Follow any instructions regarding adjustments to your medication regimen before the procedure.
Discuss Pain Relievers: Consult your doctor about any pain relievers you may be taking, including aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. They will advise you on whether any adjustments are needed before the procedure.
Hygiene Considerations: On the day of the procedure, it’s recommended to shower without using any moisturizer, lotion, or cream. This ensures a clean and optimal treatment environment.
Comfortable Attire: Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing to your appointment. Additionally, if advised by your doctor, bring along compression stockings for use after the procedure.
Transportation Arrangements: Plan for a ride home after the procedure, as some treatments may require a brief recovery period. Our team is here to assist if you need help arranging transportation.
After Treatment
Following your vein procedure, you can expect a straightforward recovery process. Here are some guidelines to keep in mind:
Activity Levels: Most of our procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, allowing you to return to your regular activities with minimal restrictions immediately after the treatment. While our procedures are conducted in a sterile environment with low infection risk, we recommend avoiding soaking in pools, hot tubs, or bathtubs for 7-10 days post-procedure.
Pain Management: In case you experience discomfort, we suggest starting with 400mg of Ibuprofen every 6-8 hours with food. If non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are not suitable for you, Tylenol (up to 500mg every 12 hours) can be a suitable alternative.
Exercise Regimen: You can resume normal activities right after the procedure. Expect some bruising and discomfort along the treated vein. For more vigorous exercises like running or weightlifting, we recommend waiting 7-10 days.
Walking is Encouraged: Gentle walking is encouraged, and treadmill use is acceptable. However, refrain from running or engaging in any weight-bearing exercises specifically targeting the legs and arms.

Potential Side Effects and Complications
While vein procedures are generally safe and effective, it’s essential to be aware of potential side effects and complications. These may include:
Temporary tenderness or bruising at the treatment site.
Localized areas of inflammation, are characterized by redness, swelling, tenderness, and warmth, which typically resolve within a week.
Trapped blood, is a common occurrence, especially after an ambulatory phlebectomy. It’s characterized by hardened, tender knots in the treated area and is usually managed with warm compresses and gentle massage.
Our experienced team is dedicated to ensuring your safety and comfort throughout the entire process.
