Michael Ingegno

Michael Ingegno, MD

Michael Ingegno, MD, is an experienced, board-certified vascular surgeon. He serves the East Bay community at Vascular Surgery Medical Group in San Leandro and San Ramon, California.

Dr. Ingegno graduated with his bachelor’s degree in biology from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He received his medical degree from the SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, New York City.

After graduating, Dr. Ingegno completed an internship and residency in general surgery at the University of California Irvine in Irvine, California. He completed a fellowship in vascular surgery at the University of Florida’s Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.

Dr. Ingegno is the Chief of Staff at San Leandro Hospital and the Medical Director of the Endovascular Suite and Noninvasive Vascular Laboratory at Vascular Surgery Medical Group.

Dr. Ingegno has also held numerous other leadership roles throughout his medical career. Past positions include Vice Chief of Staff, Chairman of the Department of Surgery at San Leandro Hospital, and President of the Northern California Vascular Society.

His professional memberships include the American College of Surgeons, the Society for Vascular Surgery, the American College of Phlebology, the Society for Vascular Technology, the Alameda-Contra Costa Medical Association, the East Bay Surgical Society, the San Francisco Surgical Society, and the Northern California Vascular Society.

Michael Ingegno

Varinder Phangureh, MD

Varinder S. Phangureh, MD, RPVI, is one of the board-certified vascular and endovascular surgeons on the team at Vascular Surgery Medical Group. Dr. Phangureh sees patients at the practice’s state-of-the-art offices in San Leandro and San Ramon, California.

Dr. Phangureh began his undergraduate career at the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley), where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts with honors in molecular environmental biology. After graduating from UC Berkeley, he earned his Doctor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in The Bronx, New York.

Following his formal education, Dr. Phangureh was accepted into a competitive residency program in integrative vascular surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan. While there, he honed his skills as a vascular surgeon by working with some of New York’s most esteemed physicians.

Dr. Phangureh maintains active memberships with the American College of Surgeons, the Society for Vascular Surgery, the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, and the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society. He is devoted to staying current on advancements in his field to help his patients achieve optimal health outcomes.

Michael Ingegno

Abid Mogannam, MD

Abid C. Mogannam MD, MBA, RPVI is a Vascular Surgeon at the Vascular Surgery Medical Group. Dr. Mogannam cares for patients across the spectrum of vascular disease and performs open and minimally invasive endovascular procedures to treat both arterial and venous disorders. Dr. Mogannam practices at offices located in San Leandro and San Ramon.

Dr. Mogannam completed his undergraduate studies at Santa Clara University with honors. While he completed a Combined Sciences major and Spanish minor, he performed basic science research on cellular membranes and published his work in the Journal of Chemical Education. He went on to complete his medical degree at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. Dr. Mogannam holds a master’s Degree in Business Administration from The Paul Merage School of Business at UC Irvine. This was completed concurrently with his medical degree and focused on healthcare policy and economics.

Dr. Mogannam matriculated to the General Surgery Residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda California. During this period, Dr. Mogannam performed clinical research and published institutional retrospective reviews of anterior retroperitoneal spine exposure and major vascular reconstruction in the setting of oncologic resection in JAMA Surgery and Annals of Vascular Surgery. After completing the General Surgery Residency, Dr. Mogannam completed fellowship training at the University of California, San Diego in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. During this period, Dr. Mogannam trained to perform the most up-to-date endovascular techniques. He published a multi-institutional retrospective review of the treatment of endoleaks in the Journal of Vascular Surgery and presented his work at regional and national meetings.

Dr. Mogannam maintains active memberships in the Society for Vascular Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, and the Alameda-Contra Costa Medical Association. Dr. Mogannam believes in creating individualized treatment plans that will provide the best possible outcome for his patients.
